Major contractors
Leading the way
Australia's leading road construction and maintenance contractors Leighton
Contractors, Downer EDI, Transfield Maintenance, and THIESS are always
seeking to improve their developments and reduce costs to their clients.
These contractors have all chosen to implement "smart" sustainable
technology on their latest developments to reduce the cost and improve
the efficiency of maintenance on these developments.
Bollards and grabrails can be removed in seconds and the sustainable
technology ensures the foundations on these developments will never
be disturbed, keeping them in good condition for generations.

Main Roads WA
building a better future
Main Roads WA are working towards creating a sustainable future for
WA tax payers by reducing maintenance and substantially
reducing maintenance costs today, tomorrow and well into the future.
These innovations will continue providing savings and improving the
effectiveness of Main Roads maintenance activities for generations.
Concerned about the financial sustainability and safety of their roads,
Main Roads has introduced smart sustainable technology to reduce the
cost of maintaining traffic signage, bollards and handrails on their
urban roads.
This smart technology ensures the concrete and brickpaved foundations
remain in tact for generations and enables damaged traffic infrastructure
to be replaced in seconds with no disturbance to the public. This technologty
not only reduces the disturbance, the amount of wastage and substantially
reduces costs- it also improves safety of both workers and the general
public.
The streets are kept in good condition at all times with no trip factors
and vital traffic signage can be replaced quickly, reducing the risk
of injury to the public and disturbance to traffic flow. No heavy lifting
or heavy labour is required and workers can replace items quickly reducing
time workers spend in dangerous locations, reducing the risk of injury
and litigation.

Local Government
Authorities
Will not fail to impress!
Well maintained streetscapes and infrastructure is one of the first
indicators of an effective local government authority, and a
visit to Subiaco, Joondalup, or Gosnells councils in WA will not fail
to impress!
Many of Western Australian local government authorities have introduced
sustainable technology in an effort to improve the effectiveness of
their infrastructure maintenance activities, but these three councils
have widely implemented this sustainable technology- and it shows!
The streets are kept in pristine condition
at all times and there is no disturbance to the public, no
waste product and no disturbance caused by maintenance activities.

City of Perth
Reducing bollard maintenance
In the city centre, filled with tourists and large numbers of pedestrians
day and night, maintaining busy city streetscapes can be difficult.
City of Perth had a major problem with vehicles impacting their many
bollards and causing costly damage to the surrounding brick-paving and
foundations.
SIS has provided a low cost solution that enables steel bollards to
deflect and return upright when impacted by a vehicle. This low cost
solution protects the foundations from damage, and has substantially
reduced maintenance on their bollards and the surrounding paving.
When a bollard is badly impacted it does not have to be discarded,
as it can be reused and replaced using re-usable Sustainable technology
and without any disturbance to the general public.

Streetcare
Europe leading the way
Street furniture such as seating, outdoor tables, outdoor umbrellas,
barriers, sorts posts, tennis nets, soccer goal posts, can all be secured
on the Auto Lock & Release System- reducing maintenance and making
them simply removable and replaceable in seconds.
Top photo is from Europe where high quality street furniture and aesthetic
structures are commonly secured on the Auto Lock & Release System.
The system has been used to secure outdoor furniture including outdoor
statues and outdoor art (that is replaced regularly creating a dynamic
streetscape/ or requires removal for cleaning) cafe tables (which are
made stable and overcomes problem of uneven ground) and seating, outdoor
umbrellas, bins in vulnerable coastal locations, bike racks, removable
fencing, soccer goal posts, tennis nets and much more.

Transfield
Improving durability in coastal locations
Transfield is responsible for maintaining some of WA's most high profile
and heavily populated tourist destinations. Situated on the coast, Hillary's
Marina and Fremantle Harbour are prone to damage from the heavy traffic
and provide the added problem of corrosion and rust.
Transfield uses sustainable technology to reduce maintenance and improve
the overall effectiveness of their maintenance activities by installing
signposting, handrails, rubbish bins and bollards on the Auto Lock &
Release System and utilising the Impact Recovery System for reducing
maintenance on bollards.
All items of infrastructure can be maintained without disturbance to
the pubic - even during busy tourist season.

SGA
WA's largest "smart" road
construction project
Southern Gateway Alliance was a project funded by Main Roads WA that
brought together the skills of a range of leading developers and contractors
to produce one of the finest, most sustainable
highway developments the country has seen.
The Perth to Bunbury Highway employed SIS sustainable technology to
improve the durability and effectiveness of this project. Roadside infrastructure
is installed using SIS technology, that will ensure the integrity of
their development is preserved for generations to enjoy!
A world class development that will ensure their is no disturbance
to traffic flow required on this busy freeway for maintenance on infrastructure,
and no waste product resulting from maintenance on their infrastructure.
